6th Ave Art Studios Presents: A Child's Perspective

6th Ave Art Studios invites artists to participate in our juried exhibit which features art work about children or about the inner workings of your own inner child. The show is for ages 18 and up. The opening will coincide with the Mount Dora Art Stroll on the second Friday of the month. A Child's Perspective opening will take place on Friday, July 14th from 5:30 to 8 pm and the show will hang until August 5th.

WE HAVE 2 STUDIO SPACES AVAILABLE FOR RENT. PLEASE CONTACT ME AT 407.620.4350 FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE IT. The first is an adorable space with 4 windows and morning sunlight. It's 8.5' x 8.5'. $150 a month. The second is a half space that is 9 x 5 and is $120 a month.

Both have their own keyed entrance. The price includes wifi and utilities. I ask for an equal deposit and a month to month agreement. There is a jurying process.

For the Love of Summer features many artists from Central Florida depicting the love of all things summer. The opening will coincide with the Mount Dora Art Stroll on the second Friday of the month. For the Love of Summer opening will take place on Friday, June 9th from 5:30 to 8 pm. The show will hang until July 8th.

Artists include Cindy Anderson, Peggy Banks, Linda Sacha, Lois Kamp, Kelley Batson, Gabriella Barbato, NC Hagood, Carson Kapp, Heather Earnest, Sandy Earnest, Jennifer Ball, and Christine Peloquin. There will also be open studios and work from the other artists at 6th Ave Art Studios.

Angel Warriors of Bainbridge Island

In May, I had the greatest pleasure of being invited to teach my workshop to a fabulous group of friends. They were originally inspired by a painting called Angel Warrior and they have committed themselves to 5 years of art retreats to excavate, research and create their own personal idea of Angel Warriors. Of the 10, some are painters and mixed media artists, but for the most part, they are women who are newly diving into art with wholeheartedness.  What they are creating together is simply inspiring.

Their courage, love for each other and generosity were as astounding as the beauty of the Island itself. I was treated to an awesome massage, fabulous dinners, amazing dinner conversations, 2 fun birthday parties and a room above a completely stocked studio on the Wacky Nut Farm. I went on hikes in the gorgeous woods, did yoga in a studio above the horse barn, and soaked in the Washington weather otherwise known as Forest Bathing. I got introduced to Mary Oliver's work, watched 9 women comfort and love a friend in great need and did some paintings that I love. I got a private tour of Islandwood, a beautiful school situated on 250 acres on Bainbridge Island, that teaches the love of the environment, sustainability and art to kids in 4th and 5th grade. I got to know these 10 super smart and caring women and now call them my friends. Everything about my trip was amazing! Thank you again Debbi and all of you ladies! I can't wait to go back! I took a ton of photos, but here are a few favs......

What an Honor!

I just came off a weekend workshop at my studio in Mount Dora with 8 of the most positive and fun ladies ever! Ina and Elina flew to Mount Dora all the way from the Netherlands! Seriously, I'm honored. Everyone created a piece that made them happy and made me proud. Having such talented people in my workshops really makes my job so easy! So thank you again ladies!
