I had a really fun time collaging with these women this weekend! Thank you Sherrill, Carol, Cindy, Janet and the folks at the Museum. We did 2 days of collage and drawing and painting. For more classes at this great Museum, check out their site here.

This is some of the work that I got done. Thanks to a fabulous donor, the museum was stocked with fabrics, papers and supplies galore. What a treat! 

New Class, Demo and Workshop Dates

I have new dates for classes, demos and workshops posted on my site.  My workshops began locally in Mount Dora and then Orlando. Now I'm slowly spiraling out across Florida. Looking forward to meeting and creating with new faces out there- come join us!!

Last Weekend and Future Workshops

I'm finally getting around to report on the workshop over the weekend. I just love getting to meet and work alongside new friends! We had class in the Germaine Building at the Art & History Museum of Maitland which is about to undergo a great makeover. To celebrate, they had a party the night before and invited everyone to draw on the walls. They also invited us to do our thing. I've never been asked to do mixed media graffiti before! Fun! Bonny, Rya and Earl, I hope we get to do it again sometime!

Which brings me to the next order of business. I have a new class and new workshops on the schedule! 

Learn the joys of mixed media collage.  The workshop will address working with papers, fabrics, found objects, and past art work.  The materials used will be the choice of each student, but students are encouraged to incorporate some of their own prior art work into new pieces. The objective of the workshop is to explore new mixed media techniques and excavate each student’s authentic voice in their art.

The objective of the work shop is to explore new mixed media techniques and excavate each student’s authentic voice in their art.

Materials list;

• Wood panel, canvas board or heavy paper at least 24” x 24” to use a base.
• Fabrics- cotton, batiks, polyesters, scraps, curtains, tablecloths, linens, new and old that speak to you.
• They don’t have to be perfect, just smooth.
• Papers -patterned, tissue paper, wall paper, wrapping paper, maps, old book pages, paper napkins that you love.
• Found Objects- old letters, keys, pressed dried flowers, ribbon, stamps etc
• Prior art projects that you are willing to let go of- watercolors, drawings, paintings, photographs…anything except oil paintings.
• Matte medium – at least 16 oz.– I love Utrecht acrylic matte medium
• Soft vine charcoal, soft charcoal pencils
• Erasers
• Workable or UV charcoal spray fixative
• Acrylic or latex paints
• Brushes including 2” finch or house painting brush for applying matte medium
• Scissors and exacto knife
